Keeping Your Team Safe- Why We Should All Know CPR

Most employees in businesses all over the world do not have the knowledge of how to perform CPR in the event of a cardiac emergency in the workplace.  Educating your team on how to react in an emergency situation, specifically one that requires CPR, could be the difference between a life and death outcome.  There are multiple reasons why keeping your team safe by completing a CPR/AED and First Aid certification course is a crucial aspect to any business, which we will explore below.

The main reason that everyone on your team should become CPR certified is that one of the leading causes of death is heart disease.  Heart disease rears its head in the form of cardiac arrest.  When an individual goes into cardiac arrest, it is imperative that action is taken immediately to aid them.  Performing CPR and/or using an AED on a person experiencing a cardiac emergency can be the difference between life and death.  Completing a CPR certification course teaches the proper steps to performing CPR and how to correctly use an AED.  Participants can leave the course feeling overwhelmingly better about their abilities to respond to an emergency.

Another great reason to complete a CPR course is that most courses offer a first aid portion.  Gaining the knowledge of different ways to care for individuals in need of first aid is great education, especially for physically demanding businesses where the risk of injury is higher.  Some of the first aid techniques covered in the course include controlling bleeding, treating head, neck, and back injuries, handling minor cuts and abrasions, and assessing altered mental states.  Knowing how to treat any one of these things is a great step in keeping your team safe.

In addition, most CPR courses cover infant and child CPR, in addition to adult CPR.  Learning how to care for infants and children in the event of a cardiac emergency, choking emergency, or any other emergency, extends further than your team and gives you the comfort of knowing you are prepared at home as well.  This knowledge could also come in handy if your business works with children.  The security that a CPR/AED and First Aid certification class provides is unmatched.

Last, but certainly not least, participating in a CPR certification class is fun! The courses offered at Premier Health and Safety combine fun and relatable videos with music, stories, and lots of hands-on participation, in order to make the course enjoyable for all participants.  Most people may believe that spending a couple hours in a classroom would take away from their otherwise busy lives, but the knowledge gained from completing this course is surely life-changing.  If you are local to the Orange County or San Diego County areas, check out our website to register for a class today!
